The Team Activity Log is a complete, tamper-proof record of everything that happens inside your QuickEstimate account. Whether you need to audit a change, resolve a disagreement, or simply stay across what your team has been doing, the log gives you the full picture—timestamped to the second.
How to access the Activity Log
There are two ways to view activity in QuickEstimate: the account-wide log and the per-estimate log.
Account-wide log
-
1Click Settings in the main navigation.
-
2Select Activity Log from the left-hand settings menu.
-
3The log loads with the most recent events at the top. Use the filters to narrow down by team member, event type, or date range.
Per-estimate log
-
1Open any estimate from your Projects dashboard.
-
2In the right-hand Details panel, click the 📜 Activity tab.
-
3You'll see every action taken on that specific estimate, in reverse chronological order.
Who can see the Activity Log?
The account-wide log is visible to Owners and Admins only. Estimators and Viewers can see the activity tab on individual estimates they have access to, but cannot access the full account log. See Team Roles and Permissions for details.
What gets logged
QuickEstimate records every meaningful action automatically. You never need to switch logging on—it's always running in the background.
Reading the log
Each entry in the Activity Log follows the same format, making it quick to scan. Here's what a typical log looks like:
Each entry shows: the team member's name and avatar, a plain-English description of what happened, the exact date and time, and a colour-coded event type tag so you can scan the log at a glance.
Filtering and searching
For busy teams, the log can grow quickly. Use the built-in filters to zero in on what you need:
- By team member — Select a name from the Team Member dropdown to see only that person's actions.
- By event type — Filter to Edits, Sends, Approvals, Comments, Assignments, Visibility changes, Team changes, or Deletions.
- By date range — Set a custom from/to date, or choose a preset like Today, This week, or This month.
- By estimate or project — Type an estimate name or number into the search bar to see all activity on that specific item.
All filters can be combined. For example, you can filter to show only Edits made by James T. in the last 7 days.
Exporting the log
You can export the Activity Log as a CSV file for record-keeping, compliance, or analysis in a spreadsheet tool.
-
1Go to Settings → Activity Log.
-
2Apply any filters you want (the export reflects exactly what's currently visible).
-
3Click Export CSV in the top-right corner of the log.
-
4The file will download immediately. It includes columns for date, time, team member, event type, description, and the affected estimate or project.
Frequently asked questions
Can activity log entries be deleted or edited?
No. The Activity Log is read-only and tamper-proof. No team member—including Account Owners—can delete or modify log entries. This ensures the log is a reliable audit trail.
Does the log capture client actions, like when a client views an estimate?
Yes. Client views, acceptances, and declines are all recorded in the log, clearly labelled as client activity rather than team activity. You'll see the client's email address and the exact timestamp.
Are changes made via the API also logged?
Yes. Any action performed via the QuickEstimate API is logged the same way as actions taken in the app. The entry will note that the action was performed via API alongside the relevant API key name, so you can trace it back to the integration that made the change.
Can I set up alerts for specific activity log events?
You can configure notifications for certain event types—like when an estimate is approved or a team member is removed—in Managing Team Notification Settings. Real-time webhook alerts for Activity Log events are available on the Business plan.
The log shows an edit but I'm not sure what changed. Can I see more detail?
Click on any log entry to expand it. For edit events, QuickEstimate shows a before and after snapshot of the specific field that was changed—so you can see exactly what the value was before and what it became.
