The builder has 8 steps: Client, Description, Materials & Labor, Subcontractor, Equipments, Permits, Sales Information and Summary. Use Next and Previous to move between them, and Save Draft at any time.
Step by Step
Start the Estimate
- Click Estimates in the top bar, then Create Estimate
- On the Client step, choose an existing client or enter a new one, give the proposal a name and pick a Department
The department decides which overhead and profit margin are used. Set them under Management → Departments.
Add Materials and Labor
- On the Materials & Labor step, click Add/Edit in the Material List, Group Material List or Labor List
- Pick items from your saved price list and enter the quantity (or hours for labor)
- Need something that isn't in your list yet? Use + Add Material in the same panel, then click Save
Add Subcontractors, Equipment and Permits
- Subcontractor: add subcontractor costs from your Sub-Contractors list. Your subcontractor markup is added automatically
- Equipments: add rental or owned equipment with a quantity and number of days
- Permits: click Add Permit and enter the permit type, description and cost
Add Discounts and Tax
- On Sales Information, set the sales date and potential install date
- Add a discount as a fixed amount or a percentage, and choose the tax option and sales tax rate
- Add any notes or special instructions for the client
Check the Price and Generate the Proposal
- The pricing panel shows Subtotal, Overhead, Cost Total, Margin, Your Profit and Client Price as you work
- The margin health indicator tells you if discounts or low markups have pushed the margin below your target
- On Summary, check the investment total for each package, then click Generate Proposal
